Master Johnson's Family Karate
Class Types
Mixed Classes

Most classes fall into this category, in which the instructor teaches Tang Soo Do. This is a Martial Art of Korean origin, it is a non-competitive and non-contact style. Classes cover a wide range of activities including forms/patterns (and their meanings), kicking practice and self defense techniques. A limited amount of weapons training is also included in the standard classes including 6' staff (bong) and knife. There is an emphasis on fitness and the instructors push the students to their own limits, which means that you can improve your body, mind and 'fighting spirit' all in one class!

Kids' Classes

Johnson's Tang Soo Do is especially well suited to kids. Classes are highly disciplined but also incorporate fun and fitness. These kids only classes enable the instructor to concentrate on teaching the principles of TSD through fun and games to which the kids can relate. The benefits of TSD for kids include improved self-discipline, self-confidence, concentration levels and fitness.

Ladies Classes

For ladies and girls feeling intimidated by the idea of training with men our female instructors run ladies only classes. These classes are run in exactly the same way as the mixed classes, the only difference being the absence of sweaty men!

Seminars

Master Johnson runs regular seminars for both Gup and Dan Grades. The seminars are 2 hours long and each seminar has a different emphasis usually focusing on one aspect of normal class training. Seminars are important to the continued sucess of our organisation as they ensure that students from all of our clubs are being taught the same principles, and maintain a unified standard of performance.

Shim Gong

These are extreme fitness classes in which students are pushed to the limit of their endurance to develop their fighting spirit. The classes encourage a 'team spirit' as all attendees help one another to succeed with each task they are set. Everyone should try one of these classes, the feeling of achievement (and relief!) at the end of a session is uplifing!

Weapons

If you are interested in learing about traditional Okinowan weapons training, these are the classes for you. These classes can supplement your open hand training. Master Johnson teaches a wide range of weapons inclucing the sword, sai, tonfa, knife, bong and nunchaku.
