We started doing Johnson's Tang Soo Do 3 years ago. My daughter, then aged 10, had asked and asked about doing karate,
I thought 'why not?' My son was keen to try karate too, so it was going be a family thing!
My daughter took to it well; she showed her commitment right from the start, keen to get to sessions, hurrying her
brother along so we'd not be late! And my son, well, he's gone from strength to strength, a real natural. Things I
have to work at to achieve, he can do in the blink of an eye!
We're all fitter and healthier now. I've learnt a lot about myself and what I am capable of.
Despite the age gap, we all achieved our 1st Dan in June 2005. It has been hard work, certainly for me, the sense of
achievement is incredible, and it has been a lot of fun getting to this stage. We are all now looking forward to
achieving 2nd Dan.
The main thing I like about Johnson's Karate is that it includes everyone, no matter what your age and ability, the
whole family can train together. There's a Dan Grade in everyone if they want it and put the effort in. Work hard,
train hard, don't give up, and you will achieve it, I did.
